Resistance Is Futile

It is no secret that there are governments in the Middle East that are sponsoring various terrorist organizations to keep the people in check. Some such countries include Syria and their funding of Hamas and Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Iran funding of Hezbollah. Below is a link that contains three different types of state sponsored terrorism.

Answer one or two of the following questions:

1.) What type do you feel is used most often?

2.) What are two pros and cons of these methods?

3.) What kind of effect would this have on the people and their daily routines?

  1. I feel as though state sponsorship of terror would be used most often because it is the most discrete. Although Governmental terror's pros include that the government has the power and they have the finances and resources, two cons would also be that corruption within the government could cause people to revolt, and there resources and plan would not be easily hidden to other nations. People could be affected by any terrorism because of the destruction caused; however state sponsored or governmental terrorism would also make people restless and distrusting of their government, thus making them anxious when performing daily routines such as work.

  2. I think that it is probably the most common for there to be state involvement in terrorism, because most countries don’t want to get a rep as a terrorist nation in case a western country offers them aid or something. However, I am sure that there are a fair amount of government officials in the Middle East who are a part of or support Al-Qaeda, or other extreme radical groups. This can influence what the citizens of these nations believe, so this can be a serious problem.

  3. In my opinion state involved terrorism can be the most dangerous. Contracts made by governments give private organizations and/or groups a license to kill. The difficult part is the monitoring of such terrorist actions. Because governments are not directly involved, they do not know who specifically is involved and if the mission is being completed for the right reasons. Terrorist acts are criminal attacks on innocent people. The use of such methods of sustaining power within the state show the weakness of a nation and its lack of control over its people. Once the people learn of their government's involvement in attacking citizens, trust in fellow citizens will be tested knowing the government is employing citizens to destroy themselves and their livelihood,

  4. State involved terrorism is one of the most dangerous and hardest to counter types. With the entire state government at the helm, they have a nearly unlimited cache of weapons and funds. While governments may not want the label, they still participate in it secretly. It is the Middle East version of the CIA.

  5. State sponsorship is used all the frickin time. The US backed Al-Queda back in the day, as well as helping overthrow the government in Iran. State sponsorship is also stupidly easy, any reasonable person transporting a shipment of dollar bills through the desert can reasonably expect that at least 3 Billion of it will mysteriously dissappear.

The good part is that the government doesn't get their hands dirty if things go wrong, but they also have no control over the groups actions.

  6. I also believe that state sponsored terrorism is used the most. It is the easiest to navigate with and keeps the people in line.

  7. I feel that state involved terrorism is used most often because states are willing to put other people in danger instead of their own to make it seem like they are the bad guys. People will use threats and blackmail to make sure that they do exactly what they want whether it's smuggle weapons or create a scene just to make sure the population is listening and realizing that these people are dangerous and should not be threatened. A state has the power and money to make sure that the people do exactly what they want. To me, that is the scariest and easiest way to force fear into the population.

  8. I feel that state involved terrorism is the most common because it's not only the most threatening, but is also probably the easiest to perform considering the state is given the right to terrorize. There is no considerable right and wrong situation to act upon, therefore many innocent people could be victimized.

  9. Obviously the best way to keep people in line is to beat them or shoot them.
Which brings us back to the philosophical quandary, is it better to be loved or feared?
Apparently if your in the Middle East, you should be feared.

One form of State Sponsored Terrorism I absolutely adore is Farful, the lovable Mickey Mouse ripoff that teachers kids to glorify suicide bombing and matyrdom while hating Jews and infidels. This show is sponsored by the Palestinian government.

  10. I think that Governmental or State terrorism is the most frequently found. Not only can they usually get away with terrorizing their own citizens, a large majority of middle eastern countries do it. They have their own secret police who can't get into trouble as well as corrupt justice systems. It is definitely the most popular type.
